Question:
What are the biggest challenges ahead for the province of British
Columbia? And further to that, what are some of the biggest
opportunities?
Premier Horgan:
We are an economic leader in Canada with one of the longest
periods of low unemployment, continued strong wage growth, and
among the highest in GDP growth. In some parts of the province,
employers are struggling to find workers to meet their current
demands and to grow their businesses. That’s why we’re investing
in post-secondary education, including in the skilled trades.
B.C. is on solid footing and our economy is resilient, and we’re
continuing to watch and adapt to global economic volatility and trade
uncertainty outside of our borders. We’ve made the biggest public
infrastructure investment in B.C.’s history which will support long-
term economic growth in communities right across the province.
This is our approach to the economy - our focus is on people. We’re
showing that investing in people while balancing the budget is not
only possible, it is fundamental to building a strong and sustainable
economy.
