WHERE WE ARE AND WHERE WE’RE HEADED
To date, J urneyman has:
• Gained the support of Canada’s Building Trades Unions (CBTU) as
one of its national initiatives.
• Earned buy-in from 14 affiliated international unions.
• Launched a successful website, brand video and Facebook page where
tradeswomen and men network & support each other every day.
• Produced informative resource materials including a positioning paper,
unions myths and facts document, postcard, hardhat stickers and kit
folders.
• Produced a booth to showcase the program at various career fairs
and trade shows across the country.
• Participated as keynote speakers and mentors at a variety of events
across the country.
• Received media coverage in various outlets across the country.
MOVING FORWARD, J URNEYMAN PLANS TO:
• Launch Canada’s first Building Trades Women’s Conference.
• Continue to forge alliances with other women in trades groups, programs
and initiatives as well as businesses that have an interest and support
women in the trades.
• Continue providing mentorship and support to apprentices, journeymen,
and women and men considering the trades.
• Challenge and debunk the existing myths and stereotypes of women
in the trades.
• Increase the number of women in the trades.

This is an enormous opportunity for women seeking secure, well-paid and
fulfilling employment in challenging careers. Truly, the sky is the limit.
